This innovative development seeks to create an intelligent and accessible pavement, assisting people with special needs in urban crossings. With advanced technology and wearable devices, WALKERPISA promises to improve safety and accessibility in urban mobility.
Fundación ONCE, through Asociación Inserta Innovación, is supporting the revolutionary WALKERPISA research project and the PISA Platform. Kyubi System, a business unit of Comercial Arqué specializing in engineering projects using RFID technology, will be one of the collaborators of this ambitious project.
A step forward in accessibility
WALKERPISA aims to create an intelligent, sustainable, and accessible pavement, specifically designed to assist and support people with special accessibility needs at crossings, both with and without traffic lights. This system will offer passive or active assistance, on demand, and will be adapted to each need and disability profile.
Advanced technology for safe mobility
The project includes the development of wearable assistance devices, such as mobile applications and smartwatches, that will help people identify safe areas to walk as pedestrians, minimizing risks. These devices will provide continuous assistance, monitoring pedestrians’ trajectories before and after a crossing.
Key innovations of the project
-
Real-time information: The platform will offer data on the type of crossing, trajectory, traffic direction, and pedestrian density.
-
Safety alerts: During the crossing, users will receive warnings about dangers such as bike lane invasions, trajectory deviations, obstacle detection, falls, non-stopping vehicles, and imminent end of crossing.
Validation in real environments
The WALKERPISA project includes validation and testing in real environments, ensuring that the proposed solutions are effective and safe for end users.
Experience and Know-How
Kyubi System, with over a decade of experience in RFID technology and the implementation of more than 1,000 devices, will bring all its know-how to the project.
Additionally, the ZEBRA system, protected by Industrial Property Rights and the Patent Law, will be integrated into this innovative development. Zebra and Zebra Haptic are products designed and produced by ILUNION ACCESIBILIDAD S.A., a collaborating company.
Other collaborators of the project include AIRTIFICIAL, an international company leading in innovative technological solutions for the design and manufacturing for the automotive, aeronautics, infrastructure, and other industrial sectors, and SINGULAR THINGS, an R&D team specialized in Electronics, Robotics, and Cloud Development.
With the support of Fundación ONCE, Asociación Inserta Innovación, and the expertise of Kyubi System, WALKERPISA promises to transform accessibility in urban environments, making life safer and more comfortable for people with special needs. This project not only reflects a commitment to innovation and accessibility but also marks a milestone in the integration of advanced technologies for the well-being of society.
